Ohio Valley Men's basketball program is recruiting
for the following positions for 2012: Center, Power Forward, and Wing.
Center (2) - The center
needs to be 6'7"+ with good physicality/strength. In our system, they need
to be mobile and to be able to run the floor well in transition. They will
have to be able to effectively defend their position and rebound well. We
expect our C to be able to score effectively with their back to the basket
along with having the ability to step out to 10-12+ feet to shoot the short to
mid range jumper.
Power Forward (2) - The
power forward needs to be 6'5"+ with good physicality/strength. In our
system, they need to be mobile and to be able to run the floor well in
transition. They will have to be able to effectively defend their position and
rebound well. We like for the PF to have range out to 15+ feet on their jump
shot and be able to score inside-out.
Shooting Guard (1) - We like a
lengthy and athletic shooting guard that classifies as a pure shooter while
also being able to create their own shot off the dribble (dual threat). This
player will need to be able to effectively defend their position.
In all cases, defensive ability
will be stressed. We also want players who understand the game and that have a
high basketball IQ. It will also be important to note that we emphasize the
idea of the student-athlete ... We expect a 3.0+ GPA and an ACT score of 20+.
We want quality young men who will act properly as citizens and who will work
hard toward achieving the goals of the program.
